Eastview's ‘The Flash' wins Emmy awards

Students at Eastview High School (EVHS) won two regional Emmy Awards this year for “The Flash,” a student-produced magazine show. Eastview students were recognized in five of the seven possible categories.

Members of “The Flash” won the Technical Achievement category for “The Flash Holiday Show” and won the Writing category for “The Flash Political Show.” Eastview students also received Honorable Mention awards in three other categories: Public Service for Nathan Henry's “Destruction of the Rainforest,” Arts & Entertainment for William Meiklejohn's “When You Fall,” and Sports for Tim Olson's “Lightning Football Highlights.”

Students in “The Flash” who received the Emmy awards are: Kristina Amata, Holland Baxley, Kane Bechstein, Mari Boe, Justin Dahlke, Mitch Dreier, Alex Elfner, Becca Habegger, Sarah Hagen, Kyle Hofer, Amanda Jagdeo, Tracy Jenks, Natalie Jones, Casey Kestler, Tony Kuehne, Michael Lindsay, Steph McKenzie, William Meiklejohn, Scott Menk, Adam Nelson, Tim Olson, Katelin Shiels, Matt St. Martin, Vivien Stender, Aleecia Svien, Alyssa Werner and Katie Wilharm.

In addition to the Emmy recognition, other Eastview student video production achievements for the 2004-2005 school year include:

Student Television Network National Winner (News Magazine Show) for “The Flash Around the Horn.”

Student Television Network National Winner (Humor) for William Meiklejohn's “Bananaphone.”

Student Television Network - Honorable Mention (Daily News Show) for “The 4Cast Anchorman Show.”

Student Television Network - Honorable Mention (Animation) for Danielle Rud's “Robot Rumble.”

Student Television Network - Honorable Mention (Original Short) for William Meiklejohn's “When You Fall.”

Minnesota High School Press Association Sports Journalism Contest Winner for Katie Wilharm and Vivien Stender's “Minnesota Swarm Contest.”

Videos featured in “Red Eye Film Festival,” “MHz Shortie Film Festival,” and “International Student Film Festival.”

The best of Eastview's video productions were featured at the school's fourth annual film festival May 13.
